Theme of the Month –
“Khalsa Saajna Divas.”
The month of April holds great significance for Sikhs, as this is the month when Khalsa Saajna Divas first took place over 300 years ago. Khalsa Saajna Divas is also known as the Birth of Khalsa or Vaisakhi. On Vaisakhi day in 1699, Guru Gobind Singh Ji united the common people through the creation of a universal identity, values and a new way of life – Khalsa Panth. Alongside, our theme of the month, students will also explore “Transformation”. Transformation not only happens outwardly, but inwardly as well. Vaisakhi is the perfect example and expression of how we can spiritually transform externally and internally. Guru Sahib provided us with the tools and guidance on how we too can begin to transform ourselves in our everyday life. This month students will not only explore the historical, religious and spiritual significance of Khalsa Saajna Divas in Sikhi, but also find ways in which they can begin to transform internally and externally in order to uphold the values that Guru Sahib teaches us in Gurbani.
