Theme of the Month

The month of April holds a lot of significance for Sikhs, as this is the month when the Khalsa Saajna Divas first took place over 300 years ago. Khalsa Saajna Divas is also known as the Birth of Khalsa. Students will be exploring the historical and religious significance of Vaisakhi in Sikhi. In 1699, Vaisakhi gave the common people a new identity and a new way of life the Sikh Panth. This month our focus wil l be on Transformation. Transformation happens both inwardly and outwardly, and Vaisakhi is a great example of how Sikhs focus on transforming themselves both inwards and outwards. During this month, our focus will be more on the internal transformation . W e will hold vichar (contemplate) on what Guru Sahib Ji actually tried to t each us by creating Khalsa which means pure at heart, pure in actions and thoughts. Vaisakhi/Creation of Khalsa is a great example of how Sikhs focus on transforming themselves
both inwards and outwards. By embodying the values and teachings that Guru Ji taught us in our everyday lives, we can begin to transform ourselves. Also, In this month, we will also celebrate Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 400th Prakash Purab. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was our ninth Guru Ji. We will learn about Guru Sahib’s compassion, empathy, strength and justice for all people.
